Effects of Physical Exercise (Type, Intensity, Duration) on BDNF and Cognitive Functions in the Hippocampus of Adults and Elderly: A Literature Review

The hippocampus has a function in forming memory mediated by the BDNF neurotrophic that been induced physical exercise. Several studies have conducted to determine effect of exercise on and cognitive (learning, memory, executive function). is influenced type, intensity, duration. Purpose: To review duration adults elderly. This study used literature method from several databases, including PubMed, Science Direct, Cinahl, 2010 2021. Certain keywords were search articles; PICO was also screening articles, extract, analysis data. Results: There are eleven articles included this review. Aerobic increases blood circulation heart brain, so VO2max increases. Training intensity causes hemodynamics, cellular metabolism, formation, while time influences hypothalamic response. These mechanisms interrelated concentration as mediator synaptic plasticity. Conclusion: affected exercise, especially training.
